Tesla, the electric vehicle and clean energy company, is the largest stock to enter the S&P 500 in the 63-year history of the index, by both rank and absolute market capitalisation.

The double bogey of being a recent addition to a popular cap-based index and emerging as the car-makers’ Top Dog, – that is, the largest company by market capitalisation in its industry – may possibly be the investment burden that sinks the share price of Tesla during 2021.
