EML Payments and Perseus Mining were the only stocks in the top 200 to better Afterpay's five-day return of more than 12 per cent, in a week that concluded on a low note as Sydney’s northern beaches outbreak threw Christmas travel plans in doubt.

Gold miner Perseus advanced 12.5 per cent to $1.30 as revived talks of US fiscal stimulus supported gold reaching a one-month high in the spot market of $US1896.2 an ounce. Resolute Mining also put on 12 per cent, to 82¢, and EML rose 14 per cent to $4.45.
