The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, one of the world's leading COVID-19 vaccine candidates and Australia's best hope of a return to normality in 2021, could be approved by regulators as early as January.

Speaking to Health Minister Greg Hunt on Sunday, the global head of AstraZeneca confirmed the pharmaceutical giant would continue providing data to Australia with a view to gaining regulatory approval by the end of January.
