Sydney's auction clearance rate rose to 74.8 per cent at the weekend, the best result in a month, while property agents in Melbourne expect the market to "go nuts" after the ban on private home inspections is lifted at midnight.

Craigieburn selling agent and auctioneer Trish Orrico of Ray White said buyers in Melbourne would return in large numbers now that open home restrictions were eased.
