Hopes rise for Brexit breakthrough

London | British and European Union negotiators will on Monday kick off six weeks of almost non-stop negotiations on a post-Brexit trade deal, amid rising hopes that they can nut out a compromise and beat the clock.
Talks on a free-trade deal that would come into force on January 1 next year – after the post-Brexit transition period ends – have been deadlocked since March, with the two sides seemingly entrenched behind their red lines.
