The decision by Andrew Constance to contest the federal byelection for Eden-Monaro has been overshadowed by an unedifying dispute between state Nationals leader John Barilaro and his federal counterpart, Michael McCormack.
As Mr Constance announced he was quitting state politics to become the Liberal candidate for the southern NSW seat, leaked text messages showed Mr Barilaro blaming Mr McCormack for his decision on Monday to not seek Nationals preselection.
