Ferrari's F8 Tributo has all the torque, all the time
There might be some hubris in the name, but the model pays homage to the most powerful V8 in its history.
The name “F8 Tributo” pays homage to Ferrari’s own V8 engine, which is a little like sending yourself flowers. Nonetheless, it’s some V8, winning a string of international awards over the years, and now producing an output that would have been unthinkable only a few years ago in anything other than a short-life racing engine.
The V8 in this car is also one of the last of the stand-alone petrol engines. Soon most high-performance cars – including those from Ferrari – will be hybrid. In keeping with the tribute theme, many exterior details recall classic Ferraris. These include five-spoke wheels, as per the Daytona from the 1970s, a Perspex-type engine cover, like the one on the F40 of the 1980s, and tail lights reminiscent of the 355 from the 1990s.
