China should back virus probe: PM

Prime Minister Scott Morrison says China should share the common objective to make the world safe from viruses, pushing back against Beijing's refusal to countenance an independent investigation into the origins of the coronavirus pandemic.

With Mr Morrison injecting fresh strains into the relationship with China, European leaders said that while they too wanted to see greater transparency from Beijing and the World Health Organisation, it was premature to talk about an inquiry amid the immediate health crisis.
