China bans foreigners, cuts flights as borders close

Shanghai | China has effectively closed its borders, banning most foreigners and halting the majority of international flights in a bid to contain a second wave of coronavirus infections being carried into the country.
In the most stringent border control measures announced since the virus outbreak began, China said foreigners – including those with work visas and residency status – would not be allowed to enter the country from midnight Friday.
