Glencore chief executive Ivan Glasenberg has left open the possibility of demerging the miner's coal assets, and indicated he will look at BHP's unloved Mt Arthur thermal coal mine in NSW.
Some major European investors have pressured big diversified miners to demerge their coal divisions or risk being blacklisted amid the rush to divest fossil fuel assets.
