Melbourne’s $6.7 billion West Gate Tunnel project has been thrown into turmoil, with the builders taking the rare step of seeking to terminate the contract of a major infrastructure job.
Problems with chemicals in soil resulted in the subcontractor, a joint venture made up of CIMIC’s CPB Contractors and China Communications Construction Company’s John Holland, saying it wanted to terminate the design and construct subcontract.
