Welcome rain falls in fire zones but brings flood risk

Heavy rains are providing welcome relief in some bushfire zones, but bring with them increased strain on state emergency services from flash floods and falling trees.

In NSW, the fire-ravaged South Coast and Southern Tablelands are expected to receive up to 30mm of rainfall but the Bureau of Meteorology warned the rainfall would be patchy.
