London | Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s stunning election victory has not delivered certainty on Brexit, experts warn, as he’s given himself barely a year to negotiate a daunting long-term free-trade agreement with the European Union or else potentially quit the transition period with no deal.

Brexit will no longer hit the headlines and gum up politics day in and day out: there’s no longer any prospect of a second referendum, and Britain will now formally leave the EU on January 31. But a year of complex and difficult negotiation awaits, with no assurance of success.
