Westpac pain laid bare at AGM
The AUSTRAC disaster dominated Westpac's AGM and will plague acting CEO Peter King's attempts to fix its broader performance problems.
Westpac's annual general meeting might have raged for around six hours, but it took only the first 30 minutes for outgoing chairman Lindsay Maxsted and acting chief executive Peter King to lay bare the size of the hole the bank finds itself in.
Their addresses to Westpac’s annual general meeting on Thursday were primarily acts of contrition. And rightly so.
