This year was all about women in the world of literature. In Australia and overseas, women writers scooped the big fiction prizes, and books by or about women also featured in the non-fiction arena.
The Booker Prize, arguably the world’s most prestigious fiction prize, was controversially shared by two women – Canadian writer Margaret Atwood for The Testaments, and British-Nigerian writer Bernardine Evaristo for Girl, Woman, Other.
