The prudential regulator has pushed back the "go-live" date for its new data collection system, citing project “complexities” and requests from industry for more time to get systems in order.
But the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority at the same time has warned banks, superannuation funds and insurers to be ready for its launch later next year, as the regulator embarks on an ambitious plan to use more granular data in its supervision after criticism about its technology from the recent Capability Review. Known internally as Project Athena, the regulator is modernising the way it collects, stores and provides access to data.
