Game changer: Price spike powers new gold rush

It's a long way from Washington to Western Victoria, but expectations that Jerome Powell will cut interest rates in the world's biggest economy on Thursday morning is only boosting confidence in historic Australian gold-rush towns like Stawell.
Gold bars are being poured in the town for the first time in three years as exploration success, a different approach to mining and the highest Australian-denominated gold price in history revive interest in the town's eponymous mine.
