A billion-dollar impairment of BHP's Jansen potash project could be one of the first discussions for accounting firm EY when its term as the mining giant's auditor begins next month.
The impairment prediction by Deutsche analyst James Gurry comes as Rio Tinto quietly progresses its own potash interests, which it says could be in production within five years.
