London | The Conservative Party will take the best part of two months to crown a new leader, in a drawn-out process that will completely absorb the protagonists and test their endurance to the limit.
When Theresa May steps down as party leader on June 7, she will remain Prime Minister for the five- to six-week contest, culminating in a new party leader being announced on or around July 18 and moving into Downing Street as soon as possible thereafter.
