Labor rebuffs call to purge security agencies

Labor has rejected former prime minister Paul Keating's call to "clean out" Australia's security agencies for harbouring anti-China sentiment, with Opposition leader Bill Shorten saying the party had strong relationships with spy chiefs.

Mr Keating, who was given a rousing reception at Labor's campaign launch on Sunday, took some of the focus off Mr Shorten when he delivered a colourful assessment of security officials in an interview with the ABC.
