The Tax Office says it will wait for "absolute clarity" from both sides of politics before administering $1080 rebates for low and middle-income taxpayers.

With Prime Minister Scott Morrison expected to call the federal election within days, the ATO is watching both the Coalition and Labor's positions on the low and middle-income tax offset payment, set to be factored in to annual tax return assessment notices.
