Former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has strongly endorsed Liberal defector Julia Banks in her challenge against Health Minister Greg Hunt and has also given a lukewarm assessment of the Coalition's electoral prospects.
"Julia Banks is an outstanding parliamentarian. She came to Parliament with a life of experience as a lawyer in the business world. She is really an outstanding representative," he said when asked if she would make a good member for Mr Hunt's Victorian seat of Flinders.
