Labor's plans to introduce gender targets in Australia's national honours is facing opposition from past recipients, with the Order of Australia Association suggesting reforms would be "unnecessary and potentially counterproductive".
Last month, deputy Labor leader Tanya Plibersek said a Shorten government would introduce gender targets for the first time, part of moves to boost the number of female recipients.
