Smokers take 40 years to clear lung cancer risk after quitting

Smokers who quit today will take 40 years to drop down to the same risk of lung cancer as those who never smoked, according to a new Australian study.

But this shouldn't make potential quitters despondent because their risk of lung cancer halves with every 10 years since quitting.
