It has bridged the silk and spice roads and conquered the divide between east and west during the Ottoman Empire. With a foot in both Europe and Asia, Istanbul has no shortage of sites for the avid tourist.
But as home to nearly a quarter of Türkiye’s 84 million population, the city is so much more than the sum of its big attractions.
