When it comes to travel, the wipeout that was 2020 has been so deeply etched that it hardly needs summarising. Virtually everyone has cancelled a holiday many times over, and the “credit points” bank is close to overflowing.

Global international arrivals for the year dropped 75 per cent compared to 2019 figures – marking a return to 1990 travel volumes, according to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation.
