Recently, my 12-year-old asked me where I shopped for beauty products when I was her age. The answer was brief and will no doubt resonate with anyone Millennial or older – I didn’t.
Beauty has changed in ways that I never could have predicted. When I was a curly-haired pre-teen, the only way to tackle my frizz was to use a supermarket brand that slicked it down to my scalp. I owned exactly one eyeshadow. It was purple, and I stole it from my mum (who, in my defence, would never have worn that colour, with good reason).
