Why these brands don’t believe in cutting new clothes from old cloth

Two companies – one Australian, one in the United Kingdom – are focused on fashioning a better apparel industry. Their first stop: fabrics that are more sustainable.

It started with socks. And not just any socks – the perfect socks. Launched at the end of 2020, Australian company Paire aims to make socks that don’t slip down, that remain comfortable and sweat-wicking during the day: an inherently long-lasting product because it is just so well-designed and user-friendly.

“We want to make products that solve problems,” says co-founder Rex Zhang. “Our socks are breathable, they are temperature-regulating, they are more comfortable. Our customers want a quality product. Sustainability is the icing on the cake.”
