Who would drive two-and-a-half hours on a Thursday afternoon to see a 20-minute fashion show, knowing that another equally long journey awaited them to get back in time for the official kick-off of New York Fashion Week the following day?
About 250 people, it turns out, including first lady Jill Biden (who stayed on for dinner), Vogue editor Anna Wintour (who did not), actors Jude Law, Idris Elba, Justin Theroux, Tom Hiddleston, Laura Dern and Naomi Watts, and singer Kacey Musgraves. The setting? Khalily Stables, a working yard in Montauk, a Gatsby-esque hamlet on Long Island in the Hamptons. It’s the kind of place where you could imagine groundskeepers brandishing scissors to snip errant grass into precise place. And if you like the look of Khalily, you can buy it. It’s on the market for $US15.25 million ($23.3 million).
