Carla Zampatti to close Sydney Fashion Week
She first showed at the nation's premier runway event in 1996; now, 23 years later, Australia's first lady of fashion will deliver the finale.

After 54 years in business, there’s nothing left for fashion designer Carla Zampatti to prove. And yet, here she is, about to stage the final show at this year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia at Carriageworks on May 17. It’s the first time Zampatti has shown at MBFWA since 2014, when she appeared as the Mercedes-Benz Presents Designer (this year, that honour goes to Aje). Before the festival, Life & Leisure spoke to Zampatti about how she prepares for – and unwinds after – a runway show.
