With vinyl’s resurgence, the spotlight is back on album artwork. Here are the stories behind the gorgeous cover art of six new LPs by Australian musicians.
It’s no secret that physical records have made a surprise comeback. Vinyl sales in Australia rose 20 per cent between 2017 and 2021, reflecting a decade-long global trend. When new albums are released to digital streaming services (or as downloads) they are regularly accompanied by a vinyl pressing, creating for fans a tangible connection to the recording artists and a sense of ownership of the music.
