Your electric car choices are about to explode
The first Zeekr, a small SUV, will be sold from October, and will be followed by as many as 10 other brands from China’s vast portfolio of car makers.
It’s called the Zeekr, a name uncomfortably close to that of a mosquito-borne virus. But on paper it is another very impressive electric offering from Geely Holding, a Chinese company that is fast becoming the Volkswagen Group of the east.
The Chinese conglomerate includes the Geely Auto and Zeekr brands, as well as Volvo, Polestar, RADAR, Lynk & Co and others. It also builds Smart cars in China and owns about 10 per cent of German giant Mercedes-Benz.
