Tom Slingsby sets his sights on home victory at Sydney SailGP

The 2024-25 season will be a gruelling test for the 12 national teams competing, up from 10 in Sydney last year, and the 450 people who circle the globe with them.

Fresh from beating New Zealand in its own backyard, Tom Slingsby is gathering his troops for a home victory on Sydney Harbour.

Slingsby is the driver, or skipper, for the Australian SailGP team and there is only one thing he likes more than winning a round of this global championship in front of the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge and his compatriots. That’s taking out the highly lucrative grand final. This shoot-out between the top three teams, held in the final round of each season, now carries a $US2 million ($3.2 million) prize.
