Porsche 911 GT3 review: strictly for the converted

Tony Davis

Porsche's 911 GT3 is a rare beast. The road version (it is also available as a straight race car) is the last non-turbocharged 911, and indeed the last road car wearing a Porsche badge that gets by without a turbo.

Power comes from an enlarged and particularly feisty version of the familiar "boxer" six, with a 4-litre capacity and an ability to spin to 9000 rpm. Importantly for some, the GT3 is available with an old-fashioned manual transmission, something not offered on the previous model.
