The 24 Hour of Le Mans is the Olympics of motor racing, says 1998’s winner, who admits “you don’t really care” about risk when there are so many other things to think about.
When asked to name the greatest sports car race in the world Stéphane Ortelli, who has competed in almost all the major modern events, doesn’t hesitate.
“It is Le Mans,” the 1998 24-Hour winner tells us. “First of all, because I was born French [but] because it’s like a world championship or Olympics for an athlete.”
