Meet the cellist breaking classical music’s barriers

Sheku Kanneh-Mason has just been hired as a mentor by London’s Royal Academy Of Music. Funny thing is, it’s not so long since he graduated from there.

It’s a sign of how fast things have moved for the 23-year-old cellist, who was watched by billions playing Ave Maria as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed the register at their 2018 wedding. He will tour Australia with his six siblings, all fellow virtuosos, in August. It will be the longest tour they’ve done outside the UK.
