‘Extraordinary’ Cate Blanchett wins best actress BAFTA

London | Cate Blanchett won the best actress award at the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAS) on Sunday (Monday AEDT) for her portrayal of a troubled classical music conductor in Tar.
Accepting her award at the BAFTAs in London, Britain’s equivalent of Hollywood’s Academy Awards, Blanchett said it had been “an extraordinary year for female performers. To be counted among them is really special”.
