Australian film producers take another stab at making it in the region
Buoyancy, the confronting new film from director Roth Rathjen about the horrors faced by forced labourers in Southeast Asia, is something new for Australian film. It was shot in Asia in three different languages without a word of English and no Australian actors.
“It’s a tough film,” says Rathjen, who admitted the subject of the movie had initially made it difficult to raise the money for the project.
