Early in Sunshine Super Girl, a new stage show about the life of Evonne Goolagong Cawley, the audience sees the tennis legend as a three-year-old in the back of her father's car.

The old clunker has broken down on the dirt road leading to the tin bungalow that is home to Evonne, mum, dad and seven siblings.
