New entrepreneurship MBA attracts women students

Tim Dodd

UTS Business School dean Roy Green is confident his school's MBA in entrepreneurship, which has just taught its first class, is being run in the right place. The school's new Frank-Gehry-designed building in Ultimo, at the southern end of Sydney's central business district, has the highest density of start-up companies in Australia, with 52 per square kilometre.

The first intake into the MBAe (as it is known) is fully subscribed, with 28 students selected from 68 applications. The business school is particularly pleased that 40 per cent of the first cohort are women, a strong result considering the Start-up Muster survey in 2015 found only a minority of start-ups are led by women.
