Australian chief executives are lasting longer in the job than their global counterparts and more rising up the ranks than being parachuted in, a report finds.

The tenure of Australian CEOs now averages 5.5 years, up 30 per cent since 2012 and higher than the global figure of 5.3 years, a report by PwC finds. The 16th annual report finds the average tenure has not been this high since 2008.
