Energy World Corp (EWC)
Energy World Corp revealed on Wednesday that PLN, Indonesia's state utility, had agreed to enter into negotiations for the potential purchase of liquefied natural gas from the gas and electricity plant company. The stock rose almost 7 per cent on the news, before sliding 9.4 per cent on Thursday. The company said it had last week entered into an accord with PLN's subsidiary Indonesia Power. The deal could lead to Energy World providing 1.5 million tons a year of LNG to Indonesia's power plants for 10 years starting from 2009. A second phase envisages that sales could increase to 5 million tons. The company expects the agreement to be formalised by the end of the year and it said talks continued with other potential Asian LNG buyers. Shares in Energy World have surged more than 30 per cent so far this year, as elevated energy prices have boosted the sector.
