Amid all the market doom and gloom, trying to find companies that are forecasting stronger earnings or dividends this year is a difficult task. And it is especially arduous when it comes to the small cap end of the market as poorer economic conditions tend to be more acutely felt among minnow names. Earnings fluctuations are more prominent for these companies as they generally have less diverse earnings streams and smaller client bases and are more leveraged to domestic macro-economic conditions. But even in today's dire markets, some minnows have delivered positive surprises.
