Sacked Qantas workers win record $120m compensation payout

Qantas will pay $120 million to settle compensation for 1800 workers it illegally sacked during the pandemic, as the airline turns the page on one of the darkest chapters in its 104-year history.

Qantas chief executive Vanessa Hudson said she was pleased the airline had been able to reach an agreement with the Transport Workers’ Union and provide certainty before Christmas to the workers involved.
