Qatar Airways CEO reports ‘positive’ progress on bid to boost flights

New Qatar Airways chief executive Badr Mohammed Al Meer says talks with the Australian government to increase its air rights are progressing, as the airline looks to convince Canberra that more flights will benefit Australians and the tourism industry.

The Australian Financial Review revealed Qatar had gone back to Canberra to repeat its request to double flights into Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth to two daily services, after the Labor government blocked a previous request last July.
