Qantas says Qatar-Virgin tie-up blurs rules of flying

Qantas chief executive Vanessa Hudson has warned Qatar Airways’ bid to increase flights via its investment in Virgin Australia risks undermining Australia’s rules around international air travel that govern which carriers access prized routes.

Ms Hudson will not oppose the proposed investment, unlike her predecessor Alan Joyce who successfully lobbied against allowing Qatar to add 28 services a week into Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
