Qantas flights from Lebanon for free, while government pays Qatar

The Albanese government will pay Qatar Airways for flights it has scheduled to help evacuate Australian citizens from war-stricken Lebanon, while Qantas said it has offered its services free of charge.

The Foreign Affairs Department has arranged charter flights to ferry Australians from Beirut to Larnaca in nearby Cyprus, from where both Qantas and Virgin Australia’s strategic partner, Qatar Airways, have offered connecting flights to Australia.
