Qantas eyes downtown Tokyo flights as Virgin waits for new planes

Qantas is eyeing more flights to Tokyo’s city airport Haneda from Melbourne and Brisbane after Virgin Australia said it would hand back access to the coveted landing slot as it struggles to fill seats on its route from Cairns.

Qantas has asked the International Air Services Commission to add a third daily service between Australia and Haneda Airport when Virgin stops flying there from Cairns in February.
