Profits plunge at AP Eagers in feeble new car market
The chief executive of Australia's largest car dealership group AP Eagers says sales have been ''way off'' in Victoria since the state went into renewed lockdowns from early July, but business has recovered to be in reasonable shape elsewhere in Australia.
AP Eagers on Wednesday revealed it had suffered a 24 per cent drop in underlying profits for the six months ended June 30 to $40.3 million after a rough April and May, but a slight recovery in June. Shares in the company gained 13 per cent on Wednesday by the close, to $7.99.
