Nervous consumers behind three-year motorcycle slide
The chief executive of ASX-listed MotorCycle Holdings says a three-year slide in new motorcycle sales across the industry is close to hitting a bottom.
David Ahmet says the decline in sales have largely been caused by traditional buyers cutting discretionary spending in a weaker economy and the drought in rural areas, which affects the 20 per cent of sales coming from rural buyers purchasing farm bikes and all-terrain vehicles.
